Between word and image. Illustrative art in Żeromski's works

Between word and image. Illustrative art in Żeromski's works will be presented from February 26 to August 31 this year at the Museum of School Years of Stefan Żeromski, a branch of the National Museum in Kielce.

The exhibition will show rich collections of illustrations made for the works by Żeromski – Ashes, the Faithful River, Coming Spring, the Labours of Sisyphus, the Charm of Life and the Wages of Sin by famous draughtsmen and painters, including J.M. Szancer – author of illustrations for over 200 books, artistic director of “Świerszczyk”, S. Kobyliński - graphic artist, cartoonist, caricaturist, one of the precursors of Polish comic book, W. Skoczylas – creator of the Polish woodcut school, student of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow and Akademie für Graphische Künste und Buchgewerbe in Leipzig, M. Żeromska - graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, daughter of Stefan Żeromski, A. Uniechowski – a draughtsman, mainly involved in book illustration, collaborator of "Przekrój", K. Henisz – a painter, engraver, draughtsman, illustrator and ceramist, co-creator of the project known as the Łysa Góra experiment, H. Papiernik – a graduate of the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Wrocław, has worked on traditional graphic and graphic design as well as book illustration.
