Hunting for and collecting archaeological artefacts helps to preserve our cultural heritage

FALSE

Digging up artefacts from the ground without proper documentation deprives us of valuable historical information about our ancestors and destroys our cultural heritage. Collecting archaeological objects from illegal sources encourages the practice of looting excavation sites, creating a market for artefacts obtained in this manner, and is considered as the receipt of stolen goods in the eyes of the law. The preservation of our cultural heritage depends upon retaining it in the most intact state possible.

Artefact hunting is legal in Poland
TRUE

The legal hunting of archaeological objects is dependent upon obtaining the permission of the relevant Voivodeship Inspector of Monuments. Artefact hunting without permission or in violation of guidelines is a criminal offence.
